5000 Vingers (in English ‘5000 Fingers’) is a performance about the trauma of an 8-year-old boy. The small boy, Bart, who actually wants to play outside all day, has to go to his weekly piano class instead. Piano class is taught by sir Terwiller. A class where Bart typically falls asleep after 5 minutes.
One day during class he falls asleep once again and ends up in a bizarre world. In his dream he and 499 other boys are captured in the aircraft of sir Terwilliker. The 5000 small fingers have to perform at the world’s biggest piano concert. It is a concert that is so big that it imposes silence upon society’s noise.
Vis à Vis performed 5000 Vingers in 2000 and 2001 in cooperation with the RO Theatre in the Las Palmas Theatre at Rotterdam.
